Rosemarinus Officinalis

Image
In the past few months, spirit has been drawing me closer to the healer that has always been in me. My guides have sparked a new found interest in me to learn more about the emotional and physical healing benefits of herbs. My new favourite is rosemarinus officinalis, ordinarily known as rosemary. This amazing plant can help with everything from your hair and skin, to promoting love, to memory enhancement, to easing headaches, to keeping you safe from evil, to making a household cleaner. Now, I am far from a natural gardener, in fact I have been known to kill many plants in my time. Spirit saw fit to find me a partner in this world who in an amazing gardener. He kindly grows the plants I ask for and then I am able to use the plants for the needs I am presented with from spirit. One of the oldest uses of rosemary is to purify negative energy by using it in incense, or to hang in a doorway to ward off evil from entering your home. I think one of the best uses is to prevent nightmares. To...

Creativity and Spirit

In addition to my life as a medium, I am also a fibre artist. Today, I spent time in the studio working on combining my two paths of life. I was creating meditation pillows with organic cotton, dried lavender blossoms and golden flax seed. I then take the cover of these beautiful little pillows and hand embroider them with intention. I use Rune and Ogham symbols to fill the pillow with love, strength, joy, or destiny just to name a few ideas from spirit. However spirit directs me, I listen and fill the pillow with that  intention. These pillows have the embroidered intention, along with the sent of lavender that brings serenity, grace and calmness that can aid in helping with headache, anxiety, or sleep. The pillows can be used warmed or iced; or simply at room temperature during meditation. My pillows are for sale on the Lavender Laine Fibre Arts Studio website, www.https://lavenderlaine.ca There are several for sale now, but more will be going up over the next few days. Please ch...

The Ancestors

So, for this edition of my blog, I have been cheered on by my guides to talk about my ancestors a bit and share some new and interesting information I have recently learned. While visiting with my parents some weeks ago, I was finally allowed to look through some information I had never seen before about my fathers side of the family. I know all about my mother’s side of the family back to the early 1400’s, thanks to my Grandfather, who spent about 40 years painstakingly researching each birth or marriage certificate from here in Canada and overseas. This was in the days long before the internet and companies like Ancestry existed. Smith is a difficult name to research, especially in Scotland  which is where they were from. I had always known that Matthew was a family first name. My Grandpa’s uncle who came to Canada with the family was named Matthew. I did not know that he was named after his father, my Great, Great Grandfather, also Matthew. The most amazing thing about the infor...
