Just An Average Evening … In A Haunted Museum
Another museum I used to work for was definitely alive with spirit. Well, with one spirit at least. She often would annoy the staff my ringing an old wooden fire alarm behind them while they tried to work, me included. Sometimes boxes would float from one storage shelf to another or items on the shelf in the museum store would float off the shelf, over other items and fall to the ground, not knocking anything else as it did so. This museum is a replica of an original home and is located near a hospital. The hospital staff would often say that they saw lights turning on and off in the building at two or three o’clock in the morning, when there would have been no one in the building.
The one particular evening I recall, a museum volunteer and myself were at the museum to teach an educational program for a group of cub scouts. The program its self went successfully, without incident. After the program, when the group had left and the museum was empty, except for us, and all of the outside doors were locked from the inside, the volunteer and myself stood on the second floor balcony just chatting after we had finished cleaning up from the program. All of a sudden, directly below us one of the main gallery doors opened. This door had a distinctive creak as it opened. Our chatter stopped… next we both heard footsteps kwith a gait that sounded as though the person had a slight limp. Then, the opposite gallery door opened with a forceful push and closed with a loud bang as it always did, the sound of the footsteps fading away after the door slammed. At that point we decided it was time to go home. I did have to check the galleries as we went past them to make sure that someone had not been accidentally locked in. The galleries were empty and my volunteer was slightly distressed. We locked and alarmed the museum. We stopped to talk for a short time outside the museum about the woman who we had heard that night in the galleries. My volunteer seemed to calm down and realize what an extraordinary experience we had just gone through together.
As a medium, I know that spirit is everywhere, and is a part of our everyday life. Some spirit is just more visible (or audible) to us than other spirit. Please feel free to share your experiences with spirit with us here in reply to this blog.
